Common Questions
We get a lot of email. Most of them are related to the questions below. Please read through these before contacting us!Web2stats stopped working!
Please check that the tracking code is still installed on your site.
Not just on your local copy, you need to go to your live web site and "view source" and try to find the tracking code.
99% of the time, this is the problem - no joke!

I know for a fact that someone came to my site but they never showed up in Web2stats. What gives?
There are many reasons why a visitor might not show up on Web2stats:
- They are in your IP block list
- They are using a tracking blocker
- Their firewall blocked our tracking servers
- They have a slow connection and didn't have time to download and execute our tracking code before moving on
- They have disabled Javascript
- etc
Can I block my own visits to my site from showing up?
Yes, click this icon
in the navigation bar on your stats home page, which takes you to your site preferences page.
From here, click the "IP tags &s filters" link. (This is a premium only feature).
Some of my visitors have "internal" IP addresses (10.0.0.xxx, 192.168.1.xxx, etc). Why?
It is not always possible to obtain the true IP address of a visitor.
IP spoofing and proxies are two common reasons for this.
We of course always try to get the true IP address, but sometimes the only thing that Apache sees is an internal address.
Our choices are to discard this traffic to prevent confusion, or show you the only information we have.
We prefer the second choice!
Traffic in Spy is not showing up in the rest of my stats
Spy is truly "live", whereas the rest of your stats are typically about 5-10 minutes behind real time.
Therefore you won't see those visitors or actions until a few minutes have passed and the traffic has been processed and inserted into the database.
If the only place you are seeing data is in Spy, then you have probably entered in your domain name incorrectly, or left out any "mirrors" (including sub-domains) the site may be using. You can edit this information from your site preferences page, which you can access by clicking this icon in your site's navigation bar:
